Information Bus: Description and Operation

Central Security Module (CSM)
The CSM is connected to the data link connector (DLC through the diagnostic data bus (ISO 9141) and control all operations in connection with:
^ Anti-theft system
^ Central locking system
^ Interior scan system
^ Radio frequency remote control system

Anti-lock brake control module
The anti-lock brake control module is connected to the DLC through the diagnostic data bus (ISO 9141), and additionally to the diagnostic data bus (Standard Corporate Protocol (SCP)) if the vehicle is fitted with the Traction Control System (TCS). The anti-lock brake control module controls the anti-lock braking and traction control functions through the brake circuits.

Instrument cluster
The instrument duster is connected to the DLC through the diagnostic data bus (ISO 9141) and contains various~ gauges, warning indicators, indicators and the trip computer.

Data Link Connector (DLC)
The Data Link Connector (DLC) serves as an interface between the modules and the diagnostic tester. This electrical connector is connected to all modules capable of diagnosis through the diagnostic data buses (SCP or ISO 9141).

Air bag control module
The air bag control module is connected to the data link connector through the diagnostic data bus (ISO 9141) and controls the driver and passenger air bags and the seat belt tensioner system.

Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) governs all operations in connection with the engine. The PCM is linked to the Data Link Connector (DLC) through the diagnostic data bus (SCP). Data stored in the PCM can be read through the DLC using the New Generation Star (NGS) diagnostic tester.
