Accumulator HVAC: Service and Repair
SPECIAL TOOLS
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Reclaim the refrigerant.
3. Remove the radiator grille.
4. Remove the left-hand headlamp assembly.
5. Disconnect electrical connectors.
6. Using the special tool disconnect the upper tube from the suction accumulator/drier to the A/C compressor.
^ Disconnect the electrical connector.
NOTE: Seal the tube and the connection with plugs.
7. Support the radiator with pins.
8. Raise and support the vehicle.
9. Remove the splash shield.
10. Remove the radiator bracket (left-hand side only).
^ Rotate the radiator bracket clockwise 90 degrees.
11. Using the special tool, disconnect the tube from the accumulator/drier to the evaporator.
NOTE: Seal the tube and the connection with plugs.
12. Detach the accumulator/drier bracket from the subframe.
13. Remove the accumulator/drier.
14. Remove the low pressure switch.
INSTALLATION
NOTE:
^ Install new O-ring seals and coat them with refrigerant oil.
^ When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive conditions may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
