Valve Spring: Service and Repair
Special Tools:
Removal
1. Remove the LH valve cover (if required).
2. Remove the RH valve cover (if required).
3. CAUTION: The piston must be at the bottom of its stroke with both valves closed. Any loss of air pressure will allow the valve to fall into the cylinder.
Remove the spark plug
4. Install the Adapter into the spark plug bore and connect a compressed air supply at 102 - 144 psi.
5. Using the special tool, compress the valve spring and remove the roller finger follower.
6. Remove the valve spring assembly.

2 Valve spring retainer
3 Valve spring
Installation
1. Using the special tool 303-473 install the valve spring.
1 Position the valve spring.
2 Position the valve spring retainer.
3 Compress the valve spring and install the valve collets.
2. Using the special tool, install the roller finger follower.
3. Remove the adapter for the compressed air supply.
4. Install the spark plug.
5. Install the RH valve cover (if equipped).
6. Install the LH valve cover (if removed).
