Inspection and Verification (Start Testing Here)
NOTE^ Make sure that the battery is fully charged before starting electrical diagnosis.
^ Prior to carrying out the Central Security Module (CSM) Self-Test, make sure that both the driver and passenger doors are open.
1. Verify the customer concern by operating the system.
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.
VISUAL INSPECTION CHART
Mechanical
^ Binding latch mechanisms
^ Binding linkage
^ Misaligned door
Electrical
^ Central junction box fuse 25 (20 A)
^ Damaged wiring harness
^ Loose or corroded connection(s)
^ Circuit
^ Door lock switch
^ Door lock actuator
3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
4. If the NGS tester still does not power up, refer to the New Generation STAR Tester manual.
5. Carry out the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. If the NGS Tester responds with:
^ CKT914, CKT9I5, or CKT70 -ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, refer to Information Bus.
^ NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for CSM, go to Pinpoint Test E. E: The Door Locks Are Inoperative
^ System passed, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs and carry out self-test diagnostics for the CSM.
6. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to Central Security Module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index. Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures
7. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, proceed to Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
