Ball Joint: Testing and Inspection

NOTE: Prior to performing this inspection, check the front wheel bearings for excessive endplay.

1. Raise and support the vehicle so no load is on the front suspension lower arm.
2. Grasp the upper and lower edge of the tire (A) and move the wheel in and out from the (B) pivot center line.
3. The front suspension lower arm ball Joint is worn if excessive movement is felt while the wheel is being moved.
4. Replace the front suspension lower arm ball joint if the movement exceeds 0.794 mm (1/32 in).
