Ignition Coil: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring from the ignition coil and the radio ignition interference capacitor.
3. Disconnect the ignition wires.
4. Remove the bolts ignition coil and the radio ignition interference capacitor from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Position the ignition coil and the radio ignition interference capacitor onto the bracket.
2. Install the bolts.
3. Apply Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound D7AZ-19A331-A (Motorcraft WA-10) or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M1C171-A to all the ignition wire boots.
4. Install each ignition wire connector to the proper terminal on the ignition coil. Make sure the boots are fully seated.
5. Connect the engine control sensor wiring to the ignition coil and the radio ignition interference capacitor.
6. Connect the battery ground cable.
