Removal and Installation
REMOVAL
WARNING: Do not smoke, carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited, resulting in possible personal injury.
CAUTION: Fuel supply lines will remain pressurized for long periods of time after engine shut down. This pressure must be relieved before servicing of the fuel system is begun. A valve is provided on the throttle body for this purpose. Remove the air cleaner and relieve system pressure by using Rotunda pressure gauge tool T80L-9974-A or equivalent and drain the system through the drain tube.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Perform the fuel pressure release procedure.
3. Remove the rear seat cushion assembly.
4. Disconnect the two fuel delivery module electrical connectors.
5. Remove the four fuel delivery module access cover screws and remove the fuel delivery module access cover.
6. Disconnect the fuel tank pressure transducer electrical connector.
7. Remove the fuel line clip and disconnect the fuel line.
8. Drain the fuel tank.
9. Raise and support the vehicle.
10. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the evaporative emissions hose.
11. Disconnect the fuel filler pipe.
1. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the fuel filler pipe.
2. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the fuel filler pipe vent hose.
12. Disconnect fuel vapor control valve hoses.
13. Remove the fuel tank support straps.
14. Lower and remove the fuel tank.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy.
Install using new fuel line clips if necessary.
Where barbed fittings are used replace the emission hoses.
