Rear Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the transaxle.
2. Remove the flywheel.

NOTE: Use care to avoid damaging the crankshaft surface.





3. Use Seal Remover to remove the crankshaft rear oil seal.
4. Inspect the crankshaft rear oil seal area for any damage which may cause the crankshaft rear oil seal to leak. If damage is evident, repair or replace the crankshaft as necessary.

INSTALLATION





1. Use Crankshaft Rear Seal Pilot and Crankshaft Rear Seal Replacer to install the crankshaft rear oil seal.

NOTE:
- Coat the rear oil seal area and the crankshaft rear oil seal lip with Super Premium 5W30 SAE Motor Oil XO-5W30-QSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G.
- Ensure the crankshaft rear oil seal is on correctly and that the edges are not rolled over.

2. Install the flywheel.
3. Install the transaxle.
