Camshaft Oil Seal: Service and Repair


Special Tools:





REMOVAL
1. Align the timing marks and remove the timing belt.





2. Use Cam Sprocket Holding/Removing Tool to remove the (A) camshaft sprocket bolt, the washer and the (B) camshaft sprocket.





3. Remove the (A) bolt and the (B) timing belt tensioner.





4. Remove the inner engine front cover.





5. Use Seal Remover to remove the camshaft front seal.

INSTALLATION
1. Apply a thin film of Super Premium 5W30 SAE Motor Oil XO-5W30-QSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G to the lip of the camshaft front seal.


NOTE: The seal depth should be 0.05-1.0 mm (0.002-0.04 in) below flush with the cylinder head front face.






2. Use Camshaft Seal Replacer to install the camshaft front seal.





3. Install the inner engine front cover.





4. Install the (A) bolt and the (B) timing belt tensioner.





5. Install the camshaft sprocket.
6. Install the timing belt.
