Transmission Mode Indicator - A/T: Description and Operation

The transmission range indicator for vehicles with column shift only:
- is located in the instrument cluster.
- indicates the transaxle range.
- operates manually with a cable attached to the transmission column shift selector tube.

An electronic display transmission range indicator for vehicles with console and floor gearshift lever:
- is located in the instrument cluster.
- illuminates a ring around the selected transaxle range.
- receives a signal from the Transmission Range (TR) sensor mounted on the transaxle.
- is back-lit by the instrument cluster illumination bulbs.
- is redundant to the floor shift transmission range indicator.
