Shift Indicator - A/T: Adjustments

1. Remove steering column tilt release lever (if equipped) by turning counterclockwise.
2. Remove ignition lock cylinder.
3. Remove upper and lower steering column shrouds.
4. Place transaxle range selector lever in OVERDRIVE position or D (DRIVE) position on vehicles equipped with a Transmission Control Switch (TCS). A weight of 1.4 kg (3 lbs.) should be hung on the transaxle range selector lever to make sure the lever is located firmly on the OVERDRIVE or D (DRIVE) position on vehicles equipped with a Transmission Control Switch (TCS) detent.
5. Loosen transmission range indicator cable retaining screw.
6. Adjust transmission range indicator cable (with adjustment wheel on transmission range indicator cable), until transmission range indicator pointer is centered on OVERDRIVE or D (DRIVE) position on vehicles equipped with a Transmission Control Switch (TCS) and calibration dots show no red.
7. Tighten transmission range cable retaining screw to 3 Nm (26 in lb).
8. Cycle transaxle range selector lever through all of the positions and check that the transmission range indicator pointer is centered over proper letter or number in each range position.
9. Install steering column shrouds with retaining screws.
10. Install ignition lock cylinder.
11. Install tilt release lever, if equipped.
