Camshaft: Description and Operation

The four camshafts are installed into the cylinder heads and supported in the cylinder head camshaft journals.
- Two timing chains connect the crankshaft to the intake camshafts and exhaust camshafts.
- Camshaft thrust loads and end play are limited by the No.1 and No.5 cylinder head camshaft journal thrust caps.
- The Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP sensor) is located on the engine front cover and is triggered by the LH exhaust camshaft sprocket.
