Cable and Conduit, Traverse - RH
REMOVAL1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
2. Remove RH rear wheel / tire assembly.
3. Loosen parking brake cable adjusting nut.
4. Disconnect LH parking brake rear cable and conduit from parking brake cable equalizer.
5. Use a 13 mm box-end wrench or screwdriver to compress conduit retainer prongs and remove RH parking brake rear cable and conduit from parking brake cable equalizer.
6. Push plastic snap-in grommet rearward to disconnect from inner floor side member brackets.
7. Disc brakes: Disconnect RH parking brake rear cable and conduit from caliper parking brake lever. Remove E-clip from conduit end fitting at rear disc brake caliper. Remove RH parking brake rear cable and conduit from rear disc brake caliper.
8. Drum brakes: Remove RH wheel and tire assembly. Remove brake drum assembly.
9. Drum brakes: Disconnect RH parking brake rear cable and conduit from drum parking brake lever. Using a 13 mm box-end wrench or screwdriver to press the conduit retaining prongs, remove parking brake rear cable and conduit RH end pronged fitting from parking brake support plate.
10. Remove cable retaining screw and clip from each rear suspension arm and bushing and one screw from cable bracket at rear floor cross member. Remove entire RH parking brake rear cable and conduit assembly.
INSTALLATION
1. Insert parking brake rear cable and conduit into opening in inner floor side member bracket and end of parking brake rear cable and conduit in parking brake cable equalizer. Make sure plastic grommet is pressed into inner floor side member bracket and securely locked in place and the pronged fitting is fully seated in the parking brake cable equalizer.
2. Route RH parking brake rear cable and conduit along rear suspension arm and bushings.
3. Disc brakes: Insert parking brake rear cable and conduit end into rear disc brake caliper and install E-clip.
4. Secure parking brake rear cable and conduit end into parking brake lever.
5. Drum brakes: Insert parking brake rear cable and conduit end pronged fitting into parking brake support plate and securely lock in place.
6. Install parking brake rear cable and conduit retaining bolts and clips to rear suspension arm. Tighten retaining bolts to 10 - 14 Nm (89 - 123 inch lbs.).
7. Drum brakes: Install brake drum.
8. Install wheel and tire assembly on vehicle. Tighten lug nut to 115 - 142 Nm (85 - 104 ft. lbs.) using Rotunda Accutorq Lug Nut Socket 164-R0303 or equivalent, on a 1/2 inch air impact wrench or use torque wrench.
CAUTION: Failure to tighten lug nut in a star pattern may result in high rotor runout, which will speed up development of brake roughness, shudder, and vibration.
9. Adjust parking brake.
10. Lower vehicle.
11. Check for proper operation.
