Alarm System Transponder: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

NOTE: No key replacement or reinitialization needs to occur with the removal or installation of a new PATS transceiver.

1. Remove ignition switch lock cylinder from steering column housing.
2. Remove both upper and lower steering column shrouds.
3. Remove the lower steering column trim panel.
4. Remove screw retaining anti-theft transceiver to steering column lock cylinder housing.
5. Locate rib on steering column lock cylinder housing. Use a small screwdriver to gently pry anti-theft transceiver over the rib.

NOTE: Only apply pressure or leverage below the key cylinder lower rib.

6. Disconnect anti-theft transceiver from steering column locators and wiring harness connector.






INSTALLATION
1. Locate post on transceiver module, and align to bottom slot of key cylinder barrel on steering column lock cylinder housing.
2. Apply even pressure to top surface of anti-theft transceiver and snap antitheft transceiver over the casting rib on steering column lock cylinder housing.
3. Position the rib on transceiver case within the two walls of the cavity on the steering column lock cylinder housing, for anti-rotational purposes.
4. Install transceiver module retaining screw to steering column lock cylinder housing. Tighten to 2 Nm (18 Lb-In).
5. Connect anti-theft transceiver to steering column bracket, and connect harness connector.
6. Install upper and lower steering column shrouds.
7. Install ignition switch lock cylinder.
8. Install the lower steering column trim panel.
9. Check system for proper operation.
