Installation

1. Place transaxle on High Lift Transmission Jack 014-00924 or equivalent and position under vehicle.

NOTE: Apply Multi-Purpose Grease D0AZ-19584-AA meeting ford specification ESB-M1C93-B to the converter pilot hub before installation.

2. Slowly raise transaxle. Make sure no obstructions exist and position transaxle in engine compartment behind engine. Align transaxle with cylinder block.
3. Install one bolt into RH engine mount brace. Tighten bolt to 53-72 Nm (39-53 ft lb).





4. Install rear engine support to transaxle and secure with two bolts and two nuts. Tighten bolts and nuts to 53-72 Nm (39-53 ft lb).
5. Install four flywheel-to-torque converter nuts. Tighten nuts to 27-46 Nm (20-33 ft lb).





6. Install one lower transaxle-to-engine bolt. Tighten bolt to 53-72 Nm (39-53 ft lb).
7. Remove High Lift Transmission Jack 014-00942 or equivalent from under transaxle.
8. Install transmission housing cover and secure with one bolt. Tighten bolt to 9-12 Nm (80-106 in lb).
9. Install starter motor to transaxle. Secure with one bolt and one stud. Tighten bolt and stud to 21-29 Nm (16-21 ft lb).
10. Connect two starter motor electrical connectors.
11. Install Y-pipe assembly into vehicle. Secure with three bolts and seven nuts. Tighten bolt to 34-46 Nm (25-33 ft lb).
12. Connect four heated oxygen sensor electrical connectors.
13. Install both halfshafts into vehicle.
14. Install front tire and wheel assemblies.
15. Lower vehicle.
16. Remove Three Bar Engine Support 303-DO63 (D88L-6000-A) or equivalent from vehicle.
17. Remove Engine Lifting Brackets 303-050 (T70P-6000) from engine.
18. Install four, upper transaxle-to-engine bolts and one upper transaxle-to-engine stud. Tighten bolts and stud to 53-72 Nm (39-53 ft lb).
19. Connect fluid cooler tubes from transaxle.
20. Verify that the digital TR sensor is adjusted correctly.
21. Install manual control shift outer lever. Tighten nut and washer to 12-15 Nm (107-132 in lb).





22. Install transaxle shift cable to manual control shift outer lever. Secure with shift actuator cable fitting. Tighten nut to 19-26 Nm (14-19 ft lb). Adjust shift cable.
23. Connect transaxle harness electrical connector and Transmission Range (TR) sensor electrical connector.
24. Install Air Cleaner (ACL).
25. Install battery and battery tray.
26. Connect battery ground cable and positive battery cable.
