Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Perform Fuel Charging System Pre-Service Procedure and Fuel Pressure Relief procedure.
2. Remove vacuum line at fuel pressure regulator.
3. Remove retaining clip.
4. Remove fuel pressure regulator, and O-rings. Inspect O-rings.
INSTALLATION
1. Lubricate new fuel pressure regulator O-rings with clean engine oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G.
WARNING: FLEXIBLE-FUEL VEHICLE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR COMPONENTS ARE STRICTLY METHANOL OR ETHANOL COMPATIBLE. DO NOT USE COMPONENTS THAT ARE NOT ESPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR USE WITH FUEL METHANOL OR FUEL ETHANOL. THE USE OF DIFFERENT PARTS OR MATERIALS COULD PRODUCE AN UNTESTED CONFIGURATION THAT COULD RESULT IN FIRE, PERSONAL INJURY OR ENGINE DAMAGE.
2. Make sure sealing surfaces of fuel pressure regulator and fuel injection supply manifold are clean.
NOTE: If scraping is necessary, do not damage fuel pressure regulator or fuel injection supply manifold sealing surfaces.
3. If required install new fuel pressure regulator return seal and O-rings on return port.
4. Install the fuel pressure regulator in the fuel injection supply manifold.
5. Install retaining clip.
6. Connect the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator.
7. Perform Fuel Charging System, Post-Service Procedures.
