Liquid Vapor Separator: Description and Operation
NOTE: Vehicles equipped with a 68 liter (18 gallon) fuel tank require the use of two evaporative emission valves. Vehicles equipped with a 61 liter (16 gallon) fuel tank use only one evaporative emission valve.
- The fuel vapor vent is mounted in a rubber grommet EVAP valve assembly rubber grommet on the upper surface of the fuel tank.
- The fuel vapor vent uses a small orifice and shut off valve to allow only fuel vapors to pass into the evaporative emission hose and into the evaporative emissions canister (EVAP canister).
- A vapor space between the fuel level and the fuel tank upper surface must be maintained.
- The vapor space allows for thermal expansion of the fuel.
