Removal and Installation

Spring Lock coupling Disconnect Tool (3/4 inch) 412-040 (T85L-19623-A)
Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool (5/8 inch) 412-038 (T83P-19623-C)
1. Discharge A/C system.
2. Remove bolt and nut from radiator coolant recovery reservoir.
3. Disconnect and plug two upper hoses and fittings on radiator coolant recovery reservoir and move reservoir aside to access suction accumulator/drier.
4. Remove nut retaining A/C hose support bracket (except 3.4L (4V) engine).
5. Disconnect suction accumulator/drier inlet tube from A/C evaporator core outlet using 3/4 inch Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool 412-040 (T85L-19623-A). Cap A/C evaporator core outlet to prevent entrance of dirt and moisture.
6. Disconnect A/C manifold and tube from suction accumulator/drier using 5/8 inch Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool 412-038 (T83P-19623-C). Cap A/C manifold and tube to prevent entrance of dirt and moisture.
7. Disconnect wire harness connector from A/C cycling switch on top of suction accumulator/drier.
8. Loosen screw holding suction accumulator/drier in A/C accumulator bracket and remove suction accumulator/drier from A/C accumulator bracket.
9. Remove A/C cycling switch from suction accumulator/drier.
INSTALLATION
1. Install A/C cycling switch on suction accumulator/drier.
2. Position suction accumulator/drier in A/C accumulator bracket.
3. Using new O-ring seals lubricated with clean Motorcraft YN-12b refrigerant oil or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B, connect suction accumulator/drier inlet tube to A/C evaporator core outlet and A/C manifold and tube to suction accumulator/drier.
4. Tighten screw in A/C accumulator bracket.
5. Connect wire harness connector to A/C cycling switch.
6. Install A/C hose support bracket and retaining nut.
7. Install radiator coolant recovery reservoir and engine ground strap with bolt and nut.
8. Connect hoses to radiator coolant recovery reservoir.
9. Leak-test, evacuate and charge the system following recommended service procedures. Observe all safety precautions. Evacuation
10. Check system for proper operation.
