Right Side

NOTE: The exhaust manifold gasket must be replaced whenever exhaust manifolds are removed.

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect EGR backpressure transducer hoses from EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube.
3. Remove EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube from exhaust manifold. Use a backup wrench on the EGR valve tube to manifold connector.





4. Remove three retaining bolts from RH exhaust manifold shield. Remove exhaust manifold shield.
5. Remove nuts retaining exhaust manifold to dual converter Y pipe.
6. Remove exhaust manifold retaining bolts. Remove RH exhaust manifold and exhaust manifold gasket.

INSTALLATION
1. Clean mating surfaces on the exhaust manifold cylinder head and dual converter Y pipe.

NOTE: Lightly oil all bolt and stud bolt threads with clean engine oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G before installation except those specifying special sealant.

2. If replacing exhaust manifold, remove the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube and install it on the new exhaust manifold.





3. Position the exhaust manifold gasket and RH exhaust manifold on the cylinder head and install manifold retaining bolts. Tighten to 20-25 Nm (15-18 ft. lbs.).
4. Connect dual converter Y pipe to the exhaust manifold. Tighten the retaining nuts to 34-47 Nm (25-34 ft. lbs.).
5. Install RH exhaust manifold shield. Tighten retaining bolts to 8-12 Nm (71-106 inch. lbs.).
6. Connect EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube to exhaust manifold. Tighten to 35-65 Nm (26-47 ft. lbs.).
7. Connect EGR backpressure transducer hoses.
8. Connect battery ground cable.
9. Start engine and check for exhaust and coolant leaks.
