Rear Bearing Cover

REMOVAL
1. Remove engine.
2. Remove flywheel.
3. Using a sharp chisel or punch and hammer, cut a hole in the center of the camshaft rear bearing cover.
4. Remove the camshaft rear bearing cover using Puller 308-001 (T58L-101-B). The camshaft rear bearing cover can also be pried from the bore using a large punch.

CAUTION: Use care to prevent damage to the camshaft rear bearing cover bore or possible engine oil leakage may occur.

INSTALLATION
Prior to installing a camshaft rear bearing cover, the camshaft rear bearing cover bore should be inspected for any damage that would interfere with the proper sealing of the camshaft rear bearing cover. If the bore is damaged, it will be necessary to true the surface by boring for the next specified oversize camshaft rear bearing cover. Oversize (OS) camshaft rear bearing covers are identified by the OS stamped in the flat located on the cup side of the camshaft rear bearing cover.

1. Install camshaft rear bearing cover using a suitable driver, install camshaft rear bearing cover squarely into bore.

Apply a light coating of anaerobic sealer or equivalent to the sealing edge of the camshaft rear bearing cover before installation.

NOTE: Coat the sealing edge of the camshaft rear bearing cover with Perfect Seal Sealing Compound B5A-19554-A or equivalent meeting Ford specifications ESE-M4G115-A and ESR-M 18P2-A before installation.

2. Install flywheel. Tighten bolts to 73-87 Nm (54-64 ft. lbs.).





3. Install engine.
