Battery Saver Feature
The Battery Saver feature protects the vehicle from excessive current drain when the ignition key is in the OFF or LOCK positions. System operation needs to be well understood to properly diagnose excessive current drain concerns. The Battery Saver relay controls power for the courtesy lamps and the power window/moonroof systems by providing the power for the control circuits of the interior lamp relay and delayed accessory relay.
The Generic Electronic Module (GEM) controlled Battery Saver relay is ACTIVE with the ignition in RUN or ACC and for 40 minutes after the ignition is turned OFF. This 40-minute timer is activated/reactivated whenever the GEM receives a change-of-state signal on any of the following inputs:
^ Driver Door Ajar
^ Passenger RF Door Ajar
^ Right Rear Door Ajar
^ Left Rear Door Ajar
^ Liftgate Ajar (Wagons only -- there is no switch for decklids on sedans)
^ Power Door Lock Switch
^ Central Door Unlock Switch (on door lock key cylinder)
^ Illuminated Entry Request (from Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module )
^ Ignition Key In/Out
^ Ignition RUN/ACC
