Anti-Theft System
The perimeter anti-theft alarm system provides the vehicle with protection from unauthorized entry into the passenger compartment, engine compartment and luggage compartment. If triggered, the system provides both audio and visual alarm signals. The system is controlled by a Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) module. The RAP module also controls the electronic door lock control system functions. Anti-theft system functions are:
- perimeter sensing: doors, luggage compartment door/liftgate, hood
- indicator on solid for 30 seconds until system is armed
- perimeter alarm
- worldwide alarm configurations
When armed, unauthorized entry into the vehicle is detected by a hood switch or luggage compartment door lock tamper switch and the door ajar switches.
NOTE: Flashing of the Theft LED at Key OFF no longer means the vehicle is perimeter "armed". It now means it is protected with an engine immobilizer.
- The hood and trunk tamper switches are monitored directly by the RAP module.
- The door ajar switches are monitored by the Generic Electronic Module (GEM).
- The GEM signals the RAP module when a door is ajar.
- If the anti-theft system is armed, this signal will cause the RAP module to activate the alarm.
- The door ajar signal will also prevent arming of the system it a door or liftgate is not fully closed.
Once triggered, the system flashes the low beam headlamps, the parking lamps, the alarm indicator, and sounds the horn.
Components
The system is composed of the following components:
- RAP module with internal antenna
- luggage compartment door lock tamper switch
- anti-theft warning indicator (output)
- door lock cylinder switches (inputs)
- hood anti-theft control bracket and switch (input)
- liftgate interface module (wagon)
The following components already exist on the vehicle and are also used in the anti-theft system:
- horn relay (output)
- parking lamp
- GEM (input and output)
- autolamp headlamp relay (output)
- autolamp park lamp relay (output)
- door lock relays
- door ajar switches
