DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove the halfshaft assembly.
2. Disconnect the halfshaft joint at the transmission end.
- Clamp the front axle driveshaft in a clamp.
NOTE: Use vise jaw protectors.
1. Cut the boot clamps and discard them. Slide the boot back.
2. Pull off the tripod joint.
3. Remove the snap-ring.
4. Pull off the tripod assembly
- Remove the boot.
5. Loosen the driveshaft joint at the wheel end.
1 Cut the boot clamps and remove them. Push the boot back.
2 Unseat the driveshaft joint from the snap-ring seat using a brass drift.
CAUTION: Do not damage the bearing cage.
NOTE: Driveshaft joint at the wheel end only.
6. Remove the driveshaft joint.
1 Remove the driveshaft joint.
2 Remove snap-ring.
3 Remove the stop ring.
4 Pull off the boot.
ASSEMBLY
1. Fit the boot at the transmission end.
1 Install the boot with the inner boot clamp.
2 Locate the boot in position.
NOTE:
- Driveshaft joint at the transmission end only.
- Use a new boot clamp.
2. Position the boot clamp in the annular groove of the boot and tighten it using the Boot Clamp Pliers.
3. Install the tripod assembly.
- Drive the tripod assembly onto the front axle driveshaft as far as it will go, using a suitable tube.
4. Install a new snap-ring.
5. Install driveshaft joint at the transmission end.
- Pack the tripod joint with 180 grams of High-durability grease ESP-M1C207-A and install it.
1. Insert a small screwdriver under the boot seat to allow the air to escape.
2. Slide the tripod joint inwards as far as the stop, then pull it out 20 mm.
- Remove the screwdriver.
6. Position the clamp in the annular groove of the boot and tighten it using the Boot Clamp Pliers.
7. Install driveshaft joint at the wheel end.
NOTE: Driveshaft joint at the wheel end only.
1 Slide on the boot and the inner boot clamp.
2 Install a new stop ring.
3 Install a new snap-ring.
4 Pack the driveshaft joint with 170 grams of high-durability grease ESP-M1C207-A and slide onto the front axle driveshaft.
8. Install the boot.
- Press the boot into the groove in the driveshaft joint.
1. Slide a small screwdriver under the boot seat to allow the air to escape.
2. Locate the boot in position and remove the screwdriver.
9. Tighten the boot clamps.
