Test Notes

Normal Operation

NOTE: Circuit 9-MA27 (BN) is attached to the side of the LH crash sensor case. In addition, the case is grounded to the vehicle.

The air bag diagnostic monitor measures the resistance between pin C20b-21, circuit 9-MA27 (BN) and pin C20a-3, circuit 91-MA10 (BK/RD) (air bag diagnostic monitor reference ground). If the air bag diagnostic monitor measures a difference of more than 2.0 ohms between the ground at pin C20b-21, circuit 9-MA27 (EN) and the ground at pin C20a-3, circuit 91-MA10 (BK/RD) it will flash Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 45.

Possible Causes
High resistance on air bag diagnostic monitor pin C20b-21, circuit 9-MA27 (EN) to ground can be caused by:
1. A poor connection due to loose mounting, dirt, or corrosion at the LH crash sensor mounting location.
2. An open or damaged wire in circuit 9-MA27 (BN).
3. An open wire or loose circuit 9-MA27 (EN) wire attachment inside the LH crash sensor.
4. A poor reference ground at pins C20a-3, circuit 91-MA10 (BK/RD), and C20a-5, circuit 91-MA10 (BK/RD), of the air bag diagnostic monitor.
