Initial Inspection

1. Verify the customer concern by checking the air bag indicator in the instrument cluster.[1][2]Glossary Of Terms Used In Pinpoint Tests
2 Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage using the following:

Mechanical
^ Damaged air bag diagnostic monitor bracket
^ Loosely mounted air bag sensors

Electrical
^ Fuse(s)
^ Damaged wiring harness
^ Loose or corroded connectors
^ Circuit

3. If the concern is not visually evident, retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
4. If no DTCs are retrieved, proceed to the Symptom Chart.Symptom Charts
5. If DTCs are retrieved, proceed to the Air Bag Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Priority Table.Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures
