Oil Pan: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove the exhaust Y-pipe.
2. Remove the exhaust support bracket.
1 Remove the nuts.
2 Remove the exhaust support bracket.
3. Remove the A/C compressor heat shield.
1 Remove the nuts.
2 Remove the A/C compressor heat shield.
4. Drain the engine oil.
5. Remove the flywheel access cover.
6. Remove the oil pan bolts from the transaxle housing
7. Remove the oil pan.
- Remove the bolts and studs in the sequence shown.
- Discard the gasket.
- Clean and inspect oil pan and cylinder block sealing surfaces using metal surface cleaner F4AZ-1 9A536-RA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M5B392-A.
INSTALLATION
1. Apply a 8mm dot of Silicone Gasket and Sealant F6AZ-19562-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A6 to the sealing surface on the engine block.
NOTE:
- Note the locations of the studs.
- A new oil pan "gasket must be used when the oil pan is being installed.
- Install the oil pan and torque bolts within six minutes of applying sealer.
2. Position the oil pan and loosely install the bolts and studs.
3. Install the oil pan to transaxle housing bolts.
4. Tighten the oil pan bolts and nuts in the indicated tightening sequence.
5. Install the flywheel access cover.
6. Install the oil pan drain plug.
- Install a new gasket.
7. Install the A/C compressor heat shield.
8. Install the exhaust support bracket.
9. Install exhaust Y-pipe.
10. Fill the engine with the specified oil
