Right Side
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the upper intake manifold.
3. Disconnect the LH and RH spark plug wires and disconnect the bracket.
4. Remove fuel charging wiring from the fuel injectors.
5. Remove the ignition coil assembly.
1 Disconnect the ignition coil assembly electrical connectors.
2 Remove the ignition coil bolts.
3 Remove the ignition coil.
6. Remove the nuts and remove the in-line connector bracket from the RH valve cover.
1 Remove the nuts.
2 Remove the bracket.
7. Disconnect the wiring harness from the rear of the RH valve cover.
8. Remove the nuts and remove the wiring harness shield from the RH valve cover.
NOTE: Remove the bolts in the indicated sequence.
9. Remove valve cover.
- Remove the gasket.
INSTALLATION
NOTE:
- Prior to installation, clean the valve cover sealing surfaces using a shop towel and metal surface cleaner F4A2-19A536-RA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M5B392-A.
- Install a new gasket in the valve cover and install the valve cover within six minutes of applying the sealer. Before fitting the valve cover, apply a drop of sealer approximately 8 mm in diameter to the joint areas shown in the diagram.
1. Install a new gasket on the valve cover.
- Use Silicone Gasket and Sealant F6AZ-19562-AA meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A6 or equivalent.
2. Tighten the valve cover bolts in the indicated sequence.
3. Install the wiring harness shield on the RH valve cover bolts.
4. Install the wiring harness on the rear of the RH valve cover.
5. Install the in-line connector bracket to the RH valve cover.
NOTE: Verify the ground cable is in place when installing the ignition coil.
6. Install the ignition coil.
1 Position the ignition coil.
2 Install the ignition coil bolts.
3 Connect ignition coil electrical connectors.
7. Install the fuel charging wiring.
- Begin at the front of the engine and work towards the rear of the engine.
8. Connect the spark plug wires to the spark plugs and install the bracket.
9. Install the upper intake manifold.
