REMOVAL
1. Remove the water pump.





2. Remove the lower radiator hose tube.
- Remove the nuts.

3. Remove the LH heated oxygen sensor.
4. Remove the camshafts.
5. Remove the Three Bar Engine Support.
6. Remove the twelve hydraulic lash adjusters.





7. Remove the bolt and stud and position the water bypass aside.
8. Remove the oil level indicator and tube.

NOTE: Remove the LH cylinder head with the exhaust manifold.





9. Remove the cylinder head bolts in the indicated sequence and remove the LH cylinder head leaving the exhaust manifold attached.





10. Remove the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head.
11. Clean and inspect the cylinder head and cylinder block.

INSTALLATION





1. Install new head gaskets.

CAUTION: Use care when installing the cylinder head. Damage to the cylinder block and or the cylinder head may result.

NOTE:
- Make sure the cylinder head is installed in its original position.
- The head gaskets must be installed over the cylinder head to block dowels.





2. Position the LH cylinder head and insert new cylinder head bolts and washers.
- Tighten the cylinder head bolts in the indicated tightening sequence in six stages.
- Stage 1: Tighten to 40 Nm.
- Stage 2: Tighten 90°.
- Stage 3: Loosen 360° (one full turn) in reverse order.
- Stage 4: Tighten to 40 Nm.
- Stage 5: Tighten 90°.
- Stage 6: Tighten 90°.





3. Install the exhaust manifold.
- Position a new gasket.
- Torque nuts in the indicated sequence.





4. Install the PCV valve and hoses.
1 Connect the PCV valve and hoses.
2 Install the PCV valve bracket nut.

5. Install the oil level indicator.
6. Install the Three Bar Engine Support.
7. Install the lash adjusters.
8. Install the lower radiator hose tube and nuts.
9. Install the water pump.
10. Install the LH heated oxygen sensor.
