Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Raise and support the vehicle.





2. Remove the RH wheel.
- Remove the nuts.






3. Remove the RH wheel splash shield.
1 Remove the bolts.
2 Remove the shields.

4. Remove the drive belt.

CAUTION: Prevent the crankshaft from rotating in a counterclockwise direction during the crankshaft pulley bolt removal.

NOTE: The crankshaft pulley bolt is torqued to yield and must not be reused.





5. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and washer.
1 Install a suitable strap wrench to hold the crankshaft pulley.
2 Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt.





6. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
1 Install Crankshaft Damper Remover.
2 Remove the crankshaft pulley.

INSTALLATION

NOTE:
- Prior to applying sealer, clean sealing surfaces with metal surface cleaner F4AZ-1 9A536-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-MSB392-A to remove all residues that may interfere with the sealers ability to adhere.
- Crankshaft pulley bolt is torqued to yield and must not be reused.

1. Apply Black Silicone Rubber F4AZ-19562-B or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M46323-A6 to the front of the crankshaft on the inside diameter surface of the crankshaft pulley at the keyway.

NOTE:
- The crankshaft pulley bolt is torqued to yield and must not be reused.
- Use the washer of the new crankshaft pulley bolt for installation.





2. Install the crankshaft pulley.
1 Position crankshaft pulley.
2 Install Crankshaft Damper Replacer.

NOTE:
- Apply Silicone Gasket and Sealant F6AZ-19562-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A6 to the crankshaft pulley bolt.
- Use Cam Sprocket Holding/Removing Tool to prevent the crankshaft pulley from turning.
- Crankshaft pulley bolt is torqued to yield and must not be reused.





3. Install the crankshaft pulley bolt.
1 Install a suitable strap wrench to hold the crankshaft pulley.
2 Install the crankshaft pulley bolt in four stages:
- Stage 1: 120 Nm.
- Stage 2: Back off the bolt one full turn.
- Stage 3: 50°
- Stage 4: 90°

4. Install the drive belt.





5. Install the RH wheel splash shield.
1 Position the shields.
2 Install the bolts.





6. Install the RH wheel.
- Install the nuts.
