Passive Anti-Theft Alarm System (PATS)

Special Tool: New Generation Star (NGS) Tester:






Special Tool(s) Recommended

1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the Passive Anti-theft System (PATS).
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage using the following table:

Visual Inspection Table
Mechanical
- Ignition lock cylinder
- PATS key
- Use of a non-PATS key
- More than one PATS key on key chain

Electrical
- Fuses
- Circuit(s)
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
- Ignition Switch
- Loose or Corroded Connections
- Transceiver
- Remote Immobilizer Module (RIM)
- PATS Module

3. If the concern is not visually evident, determine the symptom and proceed to the system pre-check (Pinpoint Test A).
