External Controls/Shift Interlock
Because fault diagnosis starts as soon as the vehicle is taken in for repair we recommend the following procedure:1. Check that the customer concern is clearly understood. If necessary reproduce the concern on the vehicle.
2. If the concern is not clearly understood carry out a road test and/or perform visual checks.
WARNING: Danger of accident. Apply the parking brake. Shift the transmission to "P". Failure to follow these instructions will result in personal injury.
3. If a concern can be identified with certainty by a visual check, correct it and test that the system operates normally.
4. If the concern cannot be identified with certainty, then use the symptom chart to identify it.
