Removal and Installation


REMOVAL
1. Raise the vehicle.





2. Remove the fluid cooler return tube from the automatic transmission.
- Unscrew the return tube union.
- Unclip the return tube from the bracket.

NOTE: Fluid will escape.

CAUTION: Do not unscrew the connecting fitting from the transmission housing.





3. Remove the fluid cooler feed tube from the automatic transmission.

CAUTION: Do not unscrew the connecting fitting from the transmission housing.





4. Disconnect the fluid cooler tubes from the radiator (shown on a radiator removed from the vehicle).

2 Return tube
- Unclip the tubes from the bracket.

INSTALLATION
1. Install new O-ring seals.











2. To install the fluid cooler tubes, reverse the removal procedure.
3. Check the automatic transmission fluid level, add Motorcraft MERCON Multi-Purpose Automatic Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX or equivalent meeting MERCON specification as necessary. MERCON(R) automatic Transmission Fluid is being replaced by MERCON(R) V as a service fluid, as per TSB 06-14-4.
