Component Tests and General Diagnostics
1. Remove the steering column shrouds.2. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector C456.
3. With the ignition switch in the OFF position, measure the resistance between ignition switch C456-1, circuit 30-BB9 (RD), and all other pins.
^ The resistance should be greater than 10,000 ohms.
4. With the ignition switch in the ACC position, measure the resistance between ignition switch C456-1, circuit 30-BB9 (RD), and ignition switch C456-8 circuit 75-DA1 (YE).
^ The resistance should be less than 5 ohms.
5. With the ignition switch in the RUN position, measure the resistance between ignition switch C456-1, circuit 30-BB9 (RD), and ignition switch C456-4, circuit 15-DA2 (GN).
^ The resistance should be less than 5 ohms.
6. With the ignition switch held in the START position, measure the resistance between ignition switch C456-1, circuit 30-BB9 (RD) and ignition switch C456-5 circuit 50-BB11 (GY/WH).
^ The resistance should be less than 5 ohms.
7. If the resistance is not as specified above, REPLACE the ignition switch.
