Accumulator HVAC: Service and Repair
Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool Set:
SPECIAL TOOLS
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Reclaim the refrigerant.
3. Disconnect the line from the suction accumulator/drier to the A/C compressor and disconnect the electrical connector.
NOTE:
^ Seal the line and the connection with plugs.
^ Use the "black" special tool from the tool set.
4. Disconnect the evaporator line from the accumulator/drier.
NOTE:
^ Seal the line and the connection with plugs.
^ Use the "black" special tool from the tool set.
5. Raise and support the vehicle.
6. Remove the radiator shroud.
7. Remove the accumulator/drier bracket bolts.
8. Remove the air conditioning system low pressure switch.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Check A/C system for normal operation.
NOTE:
^ Replace the O-rings and coat them with refrigerant oil.
^ When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive conditions may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
