Removal

REMOVAL





1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove oil level dipstick and exhaust manifold heatshield.





3. Secure radiator and engine cooling fan motor, fan blade and fan shroud assembly to the upper radiator support, using safety wire.





4. Install Three Bar Engine Support (D88L-6000-A) or equivalent, to existing engine lift eyes.
5. Raise vehicle on hoist.





6. Disconnect steering column from steering gear at pinch bolt.
7. Remove Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC).
8. Remove front wheels and tires.





9. Disconnect LH and RH tie rods, or ends from steering knuckle.





10. Disconnect front suspension lower arm at ball joint pinch bolts.
11. Remove both stabilizer bar end link link nuts, and disconnect stabilizer bar.





12. Remove splash shield at front of front sub-frame.
13. For Automatic Equipped Vehicles:
- Remove retaining through bolts from LH and RH front engine support insulators to front sub-frame.
For Manual Transaxle Equipped Vehicles:
- Remove retaining through bolt from LH front engine support insulator and remove RH front engine support insulator and mounting bracket.





15. Disconnect power steering oil cooler hoses at RH front of front sub-frame and drain fluid from system.





16. Remove A/C accumulator retaining bracket screws from front sub-frame.
17. Remove four bolts from lower radiator supports to front sub-frame. Rotate radiator supports forward.
18. Remove two screws retaining bumper cover braces to LH and RH sides of front sub-frame. Rotate bumper cover braces forward.
19. Position Rotunda Powertrain Lift (014-00765) or equivalent, with wood blocks approx. 1016 mm (40 inches) in length secured to the lift under the front sub-frame.
20. Remove the four front sub-frame to body retaining bolts.
21. Allow front sub-frame to lower slightly and disconnect power steering pressure hose, and power steering return hose from steering gear.
22. Remove front sub-frame and place front sub-frame on floor or bench to remove components.
