New Key (8 Minute Procedure)

1. Connect the New Generation STAR (NGS) test to the Data Link Connector (DLC). (Requires V11 software)(Taurus/Sable V8 software of a higher version can be used instead.)

NOTE: Before starting this procedure, make sure the key(s) to be programmed have the correct mechanical cut.

2. Insert the unprogrammed key in the ignition and turn to the RUN position.
3. Wait for the THEFT light to prove out (2 seconds) and then flashes rapidly.
4. Select the PATS module on the NGS.
5. Select the Ignition Key-Code Erase function test (press TRIGGER twice).
6. Test in Progress will be displayed on screen.
7. After 8 minutes, Test Complete will be displayed on screen. All keys are now erased.
8. Turn the key off, and then back to RUN.
9. Wait for the THEFT light to prove out (2 seconds).
10. The PATS key is now programmed.
11. Additional keys may be programmed using Key Programming-Spare Key Procedure.
