Quarter Window Glass: Service and Repair

Special Tool(s)

REMOVAL
1. Remove the interior trim necessary to access the interior edges of the quarter window glass.

2. Remove the eight nuts.

3. Remove the quarter window glass.
- Use a razor blade knife to cut the foam core butyl and push out the quarter window glass.

NOTE: If reinstalling the quarter window glass, throughly clean off the foam core butyl using an alcohol-free cleaner.

4. Apply Urethane Metal Primer (part of E0AZ-19562-A), or equivalent meeting Ford Specification WSB-M2G234-C to any exposed metal on the pinch weld. Allow 10 minutes drying time.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Open the windows to prevent the quarter window glass from being pushed out by air pressure if a door is closed.

1. Attach Foam Core Butyl 3229-A-Norton to the inside of the quarter window glass so that it overlaps at the bottom.

2. Align the quarter window glass using the studs and firmly press into place on the pinch weld. Tighten the quarter window glass nuts to specification.

CAUTION
- Use only Urethane Sealant (part of E0AZ-19562-A), or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSB-M2G316-B to service water and air leaks of the urethane sealant.
- After replacing the urethane installed glass, the vehicle should not be driven until the urethane has cured. The curing times at temperatures above 13°C (55°F) and relative humidity above 50% curing time is 12-24 hours (decreasing at higher temperatures and lower humidities). Refer to the detailed instructions provided by the manufacturer in the kit. Inadequate curing of the urethane may adversely affect the strength of the urethane sealant bond.
