Resurfacing
HAND SANDINGUse a fine grade sandpaper (400 grit) for polishing small imperfections. If necessary, machine the flywheel surface to remove any defects.
INSPECTION
After resurfacing, the flywheel must be within specification:
Runout
Use Radial Runout Gauge 007-0056A or equivalent to inspect the flywheel clutch surface runout (A).
- Set the gauge on the flywheel clutch surface and turn the flywheel to measure runout.
Maximum runout: 0.64 mm (0.025 inch).
Finish
The finish (B) of a resurfaced fly wheel should have a finish that is 4.0-1.3 micrometer (160-52 micro-inch).
Dowel Pins
The major diameter of any dowel pin (C) must be below the flywheel surface.
Bolt Clearance
Screw pressure plate bolts (D) into flywheel by hand.
- There should be no more than 1.5 mm (0.06 inch) clearance.
