Partial Drain and Refill
NOTE:
- Normal maintenance and lubrication requirements do not require periodic automatic transaxle fluid changes. If a major repair is required, such as clutch band, bearing, etc., the transaxle will have to be removed for service. At this time, the torque converter, oil pan, fluid cooler, and fluid cooler tubes must be thoroughly flushed to remove any contamination.
- The procedure for partial drain, due to an in-vehicle service operation, is as follows.
PROCEDURE
1. Remove the fluid level indicator.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Position a drain pan under the transaxle, then remove the drain plug and washer. Discard the washer.
CAUTION: Avoid spilling transaxle fluid. The fluid may be hot.
NOTE: It may be useful to measure the amount of ATF drained for use in refilling.
4. Install a new washer and the drain plug.
5. Remove the drain pan and lower the vehicle.
6. Insert a funnel into the oil filler tube.
CAUTION: Do not reuse ATF. Always replace with new ATF.
7. Fill the transaxle with approximately the same amount of ATF drained. For refill specifications, refer to the following Specifications.
CAUTION: Do not overfill.
