Assembly
1. Clean the components with a suitable solvent and use compressed air to dry all parts and clean the fluid passages. Perform the following before assembly:- Inspect the servo piston for damage or wear.
- Inspect the 2-4 band for wear and burning.
- Check the servo piston and servo piston seal area for burrs or damage.
2. Measure the free length of the servo piston spring and check for deformation. The servo piston spring free length should be 43.25 mm (1.703 inch). If not within the specification, replace the servo piston spring.
NOTE: Do not compress the springs when measuring it with vernier calipers.
3. Measure the free length of the orifice check spring and check for deformation. If not within the specification, replace the orifice check spring.
NOTE: Do not compress the springs when measuring it with vernier calipers.
Outer Diameter (A): 7.5-8.3 mm (0.295-0.327 inch)
Free Length (B): 32.8 mm (1.291 inch)
Wire Diameter (C): 0.6 mm (0.024 inch)
No. of Coils: 10.1
4. Assemble the (A) orifice valve, (B) orifice check spring, and the (C) orifice holder. Install the orifice spring in the direction exactly as shown.
5. Install the (A) orifice assembly and (B) washers in the transaxle case.
6. Apply the specified amount of transaxle fluid to the new servo piston large seal and servo piston small seal. Install them on the servo piston.
- Servo piston large seal inner diameter (piston stem side): 58.5 mm (2.303 inch).
- Servo piston small seal inner diameter (servo retainer side): 25.5 mm (1.004 inch).
7. Insert the (A) piston stem into the (B) servo piston and secure it with a new (C) clip.
8. Apply the specified amount of transaxle fluid to the new servo piston cover seal and install it on the servo piston 2-4 band servo retainer.
- Servo piston cover seal inner diameter: 65.7 mm (2.587 inch).
9. Assemble the servo piston and the 2-4 band servo retainer.
10. During transaxle reassembly, insert the servo band piston and the 2-4 band servo retainer into the transaxle case and install the servo piston snap ring.
11. To adjust the servo band piston, refer to the Adjustment procedure.
