Assembly

1. Clean all components with a suitable solvent and use compressed air to dry all parts and clean the fluid passages. Perform the following before assembling:
- Inspect each accumulator piston for damage or wear.
- Check for worn or broken accumulator springs.





2. Measure the free length of the accumulator springs. If not within the specification, replace the spring.

NOTE: Do not compress the spring when measuring it with vernier calipers.

3. Apply the specified transaxle fluid to new (A) seal rings and install them onto the (B) accumulator pistons, then install the accumulator pistons into their proper bores in the transaxle case.

CAUTION: Apply even pressure to the perimeter of the accumulator pistons to avoid damaging the new seal ring.

2-3 Accumulator

4. Apply the specified automatic transaxle fluid to the new O-rings and install them onto the accumulator spring retainers. The accumulator spring retainer O-ring inner diameter is 28.1 mm (1.12 inch).





5. Install the (B) accumulator piston springs and the (A) accumulator spring retainers.

CAUTION: Apply even pressure to the perimeter of the accumulator spring retainers to avoid damaging the new O-rings.





6. Install the accumulator piston retaining ring.
