Starter Solenoid: Testing and Inspection






1. Use 73 Digital Multimeter to check the starter solenoid for continuity between its S- and M terminals. Replace the starter solenoid if there is no continuity.







2. Use 73 Digital Multimeter to check for continuity between the S-terminal and the starter solenoid body. Replace the starter solenoid if there is no continuity.







Solenoid M-Terminal
1. Make sure that the starter solenoid is isolated from the starter motor. Use 73 Digital Multimeter 105-R0051 to check for continuity between the S- and M-terminals. Also check for continuity between the S-terminal and starter motor body. If either check shows no continuity, the starter solenoid should be replaced.
2. Check for continuity between the M- and the B-terminals. If there is continuity, replace the starter solenoid.
