Neutral Safety Switch: Description and Operation

- The Transmission Range (TR) switch is mounted on top of the AUTOMATIC transaxle. The TR switch prevents the engine from being started except when the gearshift lever is in the park (P) or neutral (N) position.
- It also provides inputs to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) that identify what position the gear select lever is in.
