Turn Signal Switch: Description and Operation
COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY
The combination switch assembly is mounted on the steering column just below the steering wheel. Each switch can be replaced individually.
- Multi-Function Switch.
- Hazard Flasher Switch.
- Wiper/Washer Switch.
MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH
The multi-function switch, located on the LH side of the combination switch assembly, controls the following:
- Headlamps.
- Parking lamps.
- Side marker lamps (wagon only).
- Turn signal lamps.
- Flash-to-pass feature.
TURN SIGNALS
The turn signals are controlled by the turn signal lever which is an integral part of the multi-function switch. To operate the turn signal(s), the ignition switch must be in the ON position. To indicate a normal full turn, move the turn signal lever to the end-of-travel position for the desired turn. The turn signal lever will remain in position until the turn is completed, at which time the multi-function switch will automatically cancel the turn signal. The turn signal system also has a lane change feature. To operate, move and hold the turn signal lever in the position at which the turn signal indicator flashes when changing lanes. When the lane change maneuver is completed, release the turn signal lever and it will return to its normal position.
