Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
NOTE: When battery voltage is removed from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), all learned values will be cleared and reset to predetermined values. When battery voltage is restored to the PCM, the vehicle may exhibit certain driveability concerns. It will be necessary to drive the vehicle to allow the PCM to relearn values for optimum driveablilty and performance.
2. Remove the engine air cleaner.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Remove the LH radiator drain splash shield and partially drain the radiator.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.
7. Remove the ECT sensor.
NOTE: Coat the threads of the ECT sensor with ford pipe sealant with Teflon (R) D8AZ-19554-A or equivalent meeting ford specification WSK-M2G350-A2 prior to installation.
