Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL






1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

WARNING: The backup power supply energy must be depleted before any air bag component service is performed. To deplete the backup power supply energy, disconnect the battery ground cable and wait one minute.

2. Remove the parking brake and shift consoles.






3. Remove the push pins and the LH and RH control box side covers.






4. Disconnect the two air bag diagnostic monitor electrical connectors.






5. Loosen the two LH air bag diagnostic monitor nuts.






6. Remove the RH air bag diagnostic monitor nut and slide the air bag diagnostic monitor out the RH side.






7. Remove the two safing rear air bag sensor and bracket nuts.






8. Disconnect the safing rear air bag sensor and bracket electrical connector and pull upward to disengage the connector clips and remove the safing rear air bag sensor and bracket.






9. Remove the pins from the rear seat airflow ducts.






10. Position the rear seat airflow ducts aside.






11. Remove the four nuts and the air bag diagnostic monitor bracket.

INSTALLATION

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE: Verify that the air bag indicator is operative.
