Power Door Lock Relay: Testing and Inspection

73 Digital Multimeter:

Special Tool(s)







1. Remove and disconnect the power door lock relay.







2. Measure the resistance between the power door lock relay, terminal pin 5 and the following power door lock relay terminal pins:

Pins Resistance
2,4.7,9 Between 150-185 ohms

3. Measure the resistance between the power door lock relay, terminal pin 6 and the following power door lock relay terminal pins:

Pins Resistance
3,8,12 Less Than 5 ohms







4. If the power door lock switch fails any of the above tests, replace it. Otherwise, proceed to next step.







5. Apply 12 volts to the power door lock relay terminal pin 5.
Measure the voltage at the power door lock relay, terminal pins.
6. If the power door lock switch fails any of the above tests, replace it.
