HX81 - Check Fuel Pump Module Resistance

- Disconnect fuel pump (FP) module (refer to FP module pigtail schematic at beginning of this Pinpoint Test).
- Measure resistance between FLI and CASE GND pins at FP module pigtail.

Is resistance between 15 and 160 ohms?

YES RECONNECT FP module. GO to HX82.
NO REPLACE fuel pump assembly. RESTORE vehicle. COMPLETE PCM Reset to clear DTCs. RERUN Quick Test.

HX82 - Check FLI And Case GND Circuits For Short To VPWR

- Install breakout box, connect PCM to breakout box.
- Key on, engine off.
- Measure voltage between PCM test pin 12 (or 9) and PCM test pins 51 or 103.
- Measure voltage between PCM test pin 25 and PCM test pins 51 or 103.
- Key off.

Were any voltage readings greater than 10.5 volts?

YES GO to HX83.
NO GO to HX84.

HX83 - Check FLI And Case GND Circuits For Short To VPWR In Harness

- Key on, engine off.
- Disconnect PCM.
- Measure voltage between PCM test pin 12 (or 9) and PCM test pin 51 or 103.
- Measure voltage between PCM test pin 25 and PCM test pin 51 or 103.

Were any voltage readings greater than 10.5 volts?

YES REPAIR short to VPWR in FLI or CASE GND circuits. RESTORE vehicle. COMPLETE PCM. Reset to clear DTCs. RERUN Quick Test.
NO REPLACE PCM. RESTORE vehicle. RERUN Quick Test.

HX84 - Check FLI Circuit For Open Or Short To GND In Harness

- Disconnect PCM and battery.
- Measure resistance between PCM test pins 12 (or 9) and 25.

Is the resistance within ±27 ohms of the reading recorded in HX81?

YES RESTORE vehicle. COMPLETE PCM to clear DTCs. RERUN Quick Test. If DTC P0460 is still present, REPLACE PCM. VERIFY a symptom no longer exists.
NO REFER to the Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators or CHECK FLI and CASE GND circuits.

For resistances greater than 10,000 ohms:

REPAIR FLI or CASE GND open circuit between FP module, instrument cluster and PCM. RERUN Quick Test.

For all other resistances:

REPAIR FLI short circuit to PWR GND or CASE GND. RERUN Quick Test.
