Oil Pump: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove the timing belt.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the oil pan (6675).
4. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
5. Remove the two bolts and the oil pump screen cover and tube (6622). Discard the gasket.
6. Remove the six bolts, the oil pump and the oil pump to cylinder block gasket (6659). Discard the gasket.
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: Do not use abrasive grinding discs to remove gasket material; use only plastic manual scrapers. Do not scratch or gouge aluminum sealing surfaces.
1. Clean and inspect the mounting faces of both the oil pump and the cylinder block. Both surfaces must be clean and flat.
NOTE:
Lubricate the crankshaft front oil seal lip with light engine oil.
When the oil pump bolts are tightened, the oil pump to cylinder block gasket must not be below the cylinder block sealing surface.
2. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Tighten the oil pump bolts to 11-16 Nm (8-12 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the oil pump screen cover and tube to 8-11.5 Nm (71-102 inch lbs.).
