Oil Pick Up/Strainer: Service and Repair

REMOVAL





1. Remove the timing belt.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the oil pan (6675).





4. Remove the two bolts and the oil pump screen cover and tube (6622). Discard the gasket.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Do not use abrasive grinding discs to remove gasket material; use only plastic manual scrapers. Do not scratch or gouge aluminum sealing surfaces.

1. Clean and inspect the mounting faces of both the oil pump and screen and tube.

2. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Tighten the oil pump screen cover and tube to 8-11.5 Nm (71-102 inch lbs.).
